Harbor Newsletter 2007

Dear Boater,

Welcome back to the boating season at Bonnet Shores.  Please take note of some changes regarding your mooring.  There are over 100 people waiting for a mooring, therefore those of you who have a mooring must meet all of the Bonnet Shores requirements or your mooring application will not be accepted.  These requirements are listed on the two-part application form.  A float of 18 inches including name and number, must be clearly visible in large print.  All work and payment for moorings are due by June 30.  If you need the names of a mooring company, please call me.  If you plan to do the work yourself adhere to the rules.

Enclosed is an update on some new rules and regulations that were passed by the board at the September 2006 meeting.  Please read them and furnish a copy of your boat registration proving that the boat that is on the mooring matches with the name and owner of the mooring.  No other boat will be allowed to use that mooring except that which is defined in the new regulations.  Enclosed is a copy of the rule.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call so that we can address them before the start of next years boating season.

Rate for all boats is $90.00 regardless of size.

My phone number 401-230-4813.  Send check (no cash) payable to Bonnet Shores Fire District c/o Mike Tortolani, 7 Aroostook Trail, Narragansett R. I. 02882.

Also, our harbor and beach have increasing demands so limit your dock time to 15 minutes, or your boat may be towed at owner’s expense. Do not leave trailers on beach.

If you were born after January 1, 1986, and you will be operating a vessel with a motor larger than 10-horse power, then you must be certified.

If you will be operating a personal watercraft (jet ski, waverunner), regardless of your age, you must be certified.

Call 401-333-7070 or www.dem.ri.gov

Or 401-783-0323 or www.uscgaux.org

Thank you
