The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The Shawcrosses requested that the Bonnet Shores Fire District
co-sign a request to the Town of Narragansett to connect the two ends of
the paper road on Wolfe between Canopus and Burbank with a pervious
roadway of 22 feet wide.
This road would access a new home they will be building on the site
which currently is a tennis court. There will be no cost to the Bonnet
Shores Fire District. Mr. Shawcross stated that the Town Council and
Planning Board had approved the plan in May 2006 and that there had been
no objection to his plans by abutting property owners who had been
notified by certified mail. An alternate plan to access his property
without connecting the roads had been rejected by the Town of
Narragansett. The Fire Chief of the Town of Narragansett made a
statement requesting that the ends of the road be connected for public
safety and emergency equipment access.
A part of the connection for the paper road is designated wetlands.
On behalf of the owner, Craig Carrigan of Carrigan Engineering stated
that approval to cross those wetlands is in the jurisdiction of CRMC.
Kerry Rafanelli, on behalf of the Fire District, confirmed that it is
CRMC’s decision.
A motion was requested by Bob Stebenne and seconded by Dan Quirk to
co-sign the application to the Town to connect the two ends of the paper
road on Wolfe. Pat Mannix asked for a roll-call vote. Pat Mannix
abstained; Carmine Moretti, Dan Quirk, Bob Stebenne, Joe Thomas and Pat
Zito approved the motion. The motion passed 5 votes to none with 1
abstention. .
