Monthly Meeting

December 19, 2005

 

 Meeting Minutes

   

I.       The meeting was Called to Order at 7:35 p.m. by Chairperson Joe Thomas.  Those in attendance included Council members Joe Bleczinski, Bruce Fournier, Pat Mannix, Carmine Moretti, Bob Stebenne and Pat Zito.   Attorney Kerry Rafanelli and Clerk Catherine Kelleher were also present.   

II.    Pledge of Allegiance

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the Assembly.  The Council and Assembly also observed a prayerful moment of silence for the men and women in uniform who are serving in the Armed Forces, in harm’s way, in Afghanistan and Iraq and, in particular, for those serving from our own state and community. 

 

III. Urgent Business

Discussion ensued concerning the placement of the wrought iron fence on the Holten property on Col. John Gardner Road , in relation to the easement which was part of the settlement between the Holtens and the Bonnet Shores Fire District 6 years ago.

A.     Bruce Fournier reported that he had attempted to contact Mr. Holten, via his Rhode Island phone number, but he has not heard back from him. 

B.     Norma Mann a resident on Col. John Gardner Road , stated that the Holten’s architect asked her to move the bench located opposite of her house along the water edge.  The bench had been erected in memory of her late husband.

C.     It was reported that the Land Trust has a grant to do a survey of 51A. 

D.    Attorney Kerry Rafanelli gave an overview of the current situation to the Council and Assembly.  A very lengthy discussion, including questions and answers, ensued.

E.     The May 2005 meeting minutes were reviewed.  On page 6.E., it is recorded that a motion was approved for Kerry Rafanelli to proceed.

F.      The Council recommended that a complete survey be done and that this item be placed on the agenda for the January 2006 monthly Fire District Council meeting.  

IV.  Adjournment

A.     Joe Thomas moved to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was seconded by Bruce Fournier and approved by the Council.

B.     The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
